ABOUT US

Trained Across Every System We Cover

Every engineer we send is trained across electrical, mechanical and controls systems. Most faults don’t respect trade boundaries – and neither do we.

Company Background

Group 3 Engineering Limited is a multidisciplined contractor. Our founder and engineering team bring years of hands-on experience across electrical, access control, security and building-controls work.

Group 3 was created to fix a specific problem: faults that cross trades. A gate fault that’s really an electrical fault, or a CCTV recorder down because of a power fault a previous contractor missed, usually gets passed between three different single-trade contractors, each one billing separately and none of them owning the actual outcome. We built Group 3 so one company can look at the whole problem and fix it directly.

We work from our base in Radlett, Hertfordshire, covering sites across Hertfordshire, London and the surrounding counties. See our Areas We Cover page for the full picture. Our customers range from commercial and industrial sites to managed residential estates: anywhere gates, barriers, access control, CCTV, data networking and the electrical systems behind them need to keep working. And because faults don’t keep office hours, neither do we. Our emergency line is answered from 8am to midnight, seven days a week, and commercial account customers have round-the-clock reactive cover under their agreement.

Leadership

Founder-Led Engineering

Group 3 is founder-led by a qualified electrical engineer with 10 years’ hands-on experience across the disciplines we cover: electrical, access control, security and building-controls systems. That experience was earned on real sites, diagnosing the cross-trade faults this company was built to fix.

The engineering team is led day-to-day by our Technical Manager, a multidisciplined specialist whose expertise spans every system we work on. Between them, every job, from a straightforward fault to a problem three other contractors have walked away from, is delivered against the same engineering standard.

The team’s qualifications and accreditations are listed in full on our Compliance page.

What We Stand For

Quality as a Fundamental

We fit equipment from the world’s leading manufacturers and hold our workmanship to the same standard. A repair built on cheap parts or rushed work isn’t a repair. It’s a return visit waiting to happen.

Innovation Where It Earns Its Place

We take a genuine interest in new technology and put it to work where it makes systems more reliable, more efficient or easier to live with, not for its own sake.

Engineering Judgment First

Every recommendation we make is the one we’d choose for our own site: the right specification for the job, not the cheapest part that clears the fault or the most expensive one that pads the invoice.

Why Multidisciplined Engineers

01

Trained Across Disciplines

Our engineers aren’t single-trade specialists. They’re qualified across electrical, mechanical and controls work, so one visit can diagnose a fault that crosses several systems instead of three call-outs and three invoices.

02

We Engineer Results

Anyone can swap a part and hope. We investigate the fault until we understand why it happened, then fix the cause – not just the symptom sitting in front of us.

03

One Engineer, Every System

Electrical faults, automated gates, barriers, access control, CCTV and data networking – the same engineer who diagnoses the fault can very often fix it, without a second visit or a second contractor.

04

We Stay With the Hard Ones

When a fix isn’t obvious, we treat it as an engineering problem to solve – testing, tracing and reasoning until the fault is actually resolved.

Our Team & Delivery Model

Employed & Subcontracted

Our core engineering team is directly employed by Group 3 Engineering. For overflow demand or specialist work outside our core disciplines, we work with a small panel of subcontracted engineers, held to the same insurance, qualification, RAMS and vetting standards as our own staff – never a different standard depending on who turns up.

Vehicles & Parts

Vans are stocked with the parts most commonly needed across electrical, access control, gate and barrier hardware, so most faults are diagnosed and fixed on the first visit. Where a part is non-standard or has to be sourced from a manufacturer, we’ll tell you that on site rather than after the fact.

How We Work

Diagnose Properly

We trace the fault to its actual cause across every system involved – often several trades away from the one that got reported.

Engineer the Fix

We apply the right discipline for the problem – electrical, mechanical or controls – rather than forcing every fault through one trade’s toolkit.

Test & Explain

Every repair is tested, documented and explained in plain English, so you understand what failed and why it’s been fixed properly.

Diagnostic Approach

Engineers check the whole system – supply, controls, safety devices and the mechanical parts depending on them – to find the actual point of failure rather than replacing parts on guesswork. Where the parts are on the van, that means diagnosing and repairing on the first visit.

Making-Safe Procedures

Where equipment cannot safely be left running, it is isolated, manually released or secured and left in a safe condition while the repair is arranged. You’re told what has been made safe and what that means for using the site in the meantime.

Reporting Provided

You receive a fault report or a service report describing the fault found and the work carried out, and a remedial quotation where further work is needed. See our documentation guide.

Service Values & Complaint Handling

Show Up When We Say We Will

Attendance windows are confirmed before we dispatch and honoured unless something outside our control gets in the way – and if that happens, we call you before you have to call us.

Explain Before We Charge

You’re told what’s wrong and what it costs to fix before repair work begins, in plain English.

Fix the Cause, Not Just the Symptom

A repair that fails again in a month isn’t a repair. We diagnose to the actual root cause before we call a job complete.

Stand Behind Our Work

If something we’ve repaired fails again for the same reason, we come back and put it right. And the job isn’t finished when the fault clears: it’s finished when the system works, the paperwork’s in your inbox and you’d call us again without hesitating.

If We Get It Wrong

Tell us directly – email contact@g3e.co.uk or call 0330 043 0143 and ask for it to be logged as a complaint. We aim to acknowledge every complaint within one working day and give a full response within five working days. If a job needs revisiting as a result, we’ll return at no additional call-out charge.
