ACCESS CONTROL REPAIRS
Fault-finding and repair for door entry and access control systems across Hertfordshire and London – restoring secure access without leaving a building exposed.
RIGHT NOW, BEFORE WE ARRIVE
Card, fob or biometric readers not responding
Doors failing to lock, or failing to release
Controller or panel in fault
Software or credential database not syncing
Power supply or battery backup faults
Door contacts or request-to-exit devices in fault
Intermittent or random unlocking
Turnstile or interlock faults on multi-door systems
We can reset or recover access-control credentials, admin logins and lost programming access, but only for the account holder or an authorised site contact. We’ll ask for reasonable proof of authority – for example, being the registered contact for the system – before resetting access, to protect the building’s security.
Most access-control call-outs come down to a handful of parts, and the van carries them – enough to clear the majority of faults on the first visit. A controller for a specific system, or a reader that has to match your existing card format, is ordered once we’ve confirmed the make on site.
Access control is where proprietary systems bite hardest. Some controllers are tied to a manufacturer’s own software or a cloud account, and where we can’t get licensed access to the programming we’ll tell you on the first visit. Discontinued controllers can usually be replaced with a current equivalent, but if your existing fobs use a proprietary card format they may need re-issuing – and we’ll tell you that before you commit to the work.
The question on the call is which way the doors have failed, because fail-secure locks people out and fail-safe leaves a building open, and the two need opposite responses in the meantime. On site the engineer works back from the door to the reader, controller and power supply, prices the repair before starting, and checks the free-egress and fire-release behaviour before leaving. A reactive visit starts at £135, or £105 booked 10 or more days ahead. Managed estates more often run this under a commercial reactive maintenance contract, across our standard coverage area. Installed and maintained to manufacturer specification and current safety and data-handling requirements – see our accreditations and full pricing.
