BARRIER REPAIRS

Barrier Repairs

Fault-finding and repair for vehicle and car park barriers across Hertfordshire and London – for sites where a stuck barrier stops traffic, blocks access, or leaves a car park exposed.

RIGHT NOW, BEFORE WE ARRIVE

  • Barrier stuck up or down? Don’t force the arm or drive around it.
  • Use the manual release if fitted, and leave the arm in a safe position.
  • Keep clear of the arm’s travel path – a fault can mean it moves unexpectedly.
  • Don’t keep pressing the control repeatedly if it’s not responding.

STRUCTURAL FABRICATION

Structural Damage Needs a Fabricator

We repair and replace the motor, gearbox, control gear and electrical components of automated barriers. We don’t carry out structural fabrication or welding – where the fault is with the barrier arm mounting or base structure itself rather than the automation, we’ll tell you and can advise on a suitable fabricator.

SPARE PARTS

Stocked for Impact Damage

Barriers get hit, so the van is stocked for it – enough to clear the majority of impact damage on the first visit. A replacement boom, a new gearbox or a board for an older range has to be ordered, and we’ll confirm price and lead time first.

OBSOLETE PARTS

Electronics Outlive Their Production Run

Car-park barriers stay in service far longer than their electronics stay in production. Where a board or motor for your range has been discontinued, the options are usually a salvaged like-for-like unit, or a current controller retrofitted into the existing cabinet – which means re-setting the spring balance, re-timing the boom and re-commissioning the loops. We price both routes and say which we’d pick.

How We Handle the Call

We will get the barrier into a state you can live with first, usually raised and locked so traffic keeps moving, then attend. Impact damage, loose boom fixings, worn springs and failed loop detectors all present as the same fault to a driver, so the engineer establishes which it is before quoting, and the barrier is safety-tested and reported on before it is handed back. Read how we work in full.

Reactive attendance starts at £135, or £105 when the visit is booked 10 or more days ahead. Sites with recurring barrier faults are usually better served by a commercial reactive maintenance contract, across our standard coverage area. Engineers work to the relevant safety requirements for powered barriers, including BS EN 12453 and BS EN 12604 – see our accreditations and full pricing.
